5 Essentials For a Business Traveler

Updated: Aug 2, 2019

Traveling for business can be less fun than a leisure trip. There is very little time to kick back and relax. Instead, you'll wake up to a schedule bombarded with meetings, conferences, and anything else that comes with being a business professional. Although we can't put an end to the never-ending demands of work travel, we can alleviate the stress that might come with it by providing five essentials that you should have during your trip.

Here are five essentials that Mbo'Wam suggests for your next business trip.

1. Be Close to Your Place of Work

The purpose of a business trip is to do business; therefore, it only makes sense to be reasonably close to your place of work. Don't risk the chance of sitting in bumper to bumper traffic and missing your big meeting. It's always best to choose a housing option that is close to a metro rail or within walking distance. Both options are far better than having to commute from outside of the city. Besides, who enjoys waking up at 5:30AM to beat the morning traffic and sitting in rush hour traffic on your way back to your accommodation? Exactly, no one — so do yourself a favor and look into accommodations that are foot and public transit friendly or in close proximity.

2. Be Close to Food Options

While you're on your business trip, you'll likely be on the go. There is always a meeting, conference, or something business related. It's not always guaranteed that you will have time to make a nice breakfast before you head out to conquer the day, or you might not have time to eat lunch since your meeting ran over your lunch break. For days like these, it's always best that a grocery store, cafe, restaurant, or convenience store is nearby. All of these options give you ways to satisfy your hunger by either picking up snacks or calling in for a takeout meal.

3. Have A Portable Charger

As a business professional, aside from your laptop, your cellphone is your prized possession. It stores all of your important contacts, dates, emails, and other valuable information. Essentially, it's your go-to device when you don't have access to your laptop. There is no telling when something crucial will pop up; therefore, it's always best that your cellphone is always nearby and fully charged. You wouldn't want a dead battery to be the cause of something detrimental to fulfilling a task for work. Needless to say, if you don't already have a portable charger - invest in one.

4. Access to Amenities

The gym, business lounge and meeting room have proven to be the most essential amenities for business travelers. Everyone has a different way of starting their day off; but research has shown that exercising is one of the best ways to get pumped. Having 24 hours access to a fitness center allows you to get a workout in at all times. If you’re not up for exercising and need to get work done instead or print some documents - you should have access to a business lounge. Work does not always stop at your place of work; hence if you’re looking to host a late meeting, a meeting / conference meeting will come in very handy.

5. Book an Equipped and Stocked Rental

Nothing beats a rental that has all of the essentials that you would normally find in your home. It’s for this reason that many of our guests feel as if they are at home while enjoying five star hotel service. Eliminating the stress of packing hangers, towels, soap, and more creates an ease of life. Traveling for business purposes does not have to be daunting. As long as you have the above points covered, your trip should be smooth sailing. Lastly, to enjoy all of the above, book your next business trip to Atlanta with Mbo'Wam.
